Level 1
Start from zero. Learn to read and write Hiragana and Katakana, and begin understanding how Japanese works. Perfect for total beginners who are just getting started with the language.
Level 2
This is where structured learning starts. Using Genki I Chapters 1–4, you'll build essential grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills for everyday situations. You’ll be speaking, listening, reading, and writing in your very first full Japanese sentences.
Level 3
Work through Genki I Chapters 5–8. Expand your grammar and vocabulary to talk about routines, travel, events, and more. This level helps you get more comfortable holding short conversations and understanding basic written texts.
Level 4
Complete Genki I with Chapters 9–12. Learn how to talk about your past experiences, give reasons, and improve your ability to describe situations clearly and naturally in Japanese.
Level 5
Now that you've completed Genki I, it's time to bring it all together. This level helps you review, practice, and refine everything you've learned to get to the JLPT N5 level.
Level 6
Dive into Genki II starting with Chapters 13–16. You'll learn to talk about giving and receiving, potential forms, and richer sentence structures. This is where you move from basic survival Japanese to expressing more complex thoughts.
Level 7
Push further into Genki II, Chapters 17–20. You'll work on causative and passive forms, polite requests, and casual expressions: skills essential for deeper, more natural communication.
Level 8
Wrap up Genki II and strengthen your skills with focused practice to get to JLPT N4 level. This level solidifies your grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension skills, so you're ready to tackle real Japanese texts, conversations, and the N4 exam.
